Srinagar, Sep 05 (NVI): Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Tariq Hameed Karra today said that he wonders as to why BJP was feeling unnerved over the Congress-NC alliance in J&K as the party itself has alliance at the Centre.
“Our alliance with the NC to pull out the people out of the oppression and mess that has gripped J&K for the past 10 years,” Karra told reporters before filing his nomination papers from Batamaloo Assembly constituency in Srinagar. He said that when BJP can have alliance nation-wide to form government at the Centre, why was BJP feeling irritated over Congress-NC alliance in J&K.
Asked about the independent candidates in fray from Srinagar constituencies, Karra said that the step is aimed at fragmentation of votes. “But people are wise enough this time around and they know who should win and who should loose,” he said. Karra visited the revered sufi Shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Dawaood popularly known as “Batmoul Sahab” in Batamaloo, Srinagar. “Whenever I have to take a big step, I visit this shrine to pray for my success and to seek this Saint’s blessings,” he said.
Replying to a query that that BJP senior leader Ram Madhav yesterday alleged that NC, Congress and PDP were enjoying the support of former terrorists during their election campaigns, the J&K PCC chief said: “Ram Madhav is perhaps unaware of the fact that it was the BJP that roped in former terrorists into the party three years ago. Now who is campaigning for whom is quite clear.”
It won’t be an easy deal for Karran from Batamaloo where he will face PDP’s Abdul Qayoom Dar, Jailed MP Er Rashid led Awami Itehad Party’s (AIP’s) Adil Hussain and Apni Party’s Zafar Habib Dar. BJP hasn’t announced its candidate yet. About senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s two rallies in Kashmir and Jammu, Karra said that it is not necessary that Rahul would come again and again. “But yes, he will come as and when we need him,” he said-
