Srinagar, March 30:The Srinagar district in J&K has been declared as orange zone, a grade lower than the red zone, amid rising cases of the covid-19 cases in the summer capital.
Lakhanpur Containment zone on the Jammu-Srinagar highway with a buffer of 500 meters’ radius and Jawahar Tunnel area on either side, have been declared red as B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, Chief Secretary, who is also Chairperson State Executive Committee.
All other districts have been categorized as green, reads a government order, copy of which lies with GNS.
“This categorization of districts into Red, Orange and Green Zones/Districts will be followed for the purposes of implementation of permitted activities in the respective districts, as per a separate order, to be issued by the State Executive & Committee (SEC),” it said.
The decision was taken after a detailed review of the current COVID situation in Jammu and Kashmir which was conducted by the SEC with the Financial Commissioner, Health; Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir besides other officers.
The review took into account overall assessment of the situation pertaining to the spread of COVID19 in JK; the trend in new cases particularly the recent spike and the risk perception of the Health department vis-a-vis each district and the need to control further spread of the virus.
“This classification of districts will be reviewed periodically and any further modifications will be made by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir,” the order added.
