Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today chaired a meeting of several trade bodies and others associated with commercial activities to discuss various measures for the smooth celebration of forthcoming festival of Eid amid COVID-19 threat.
Meeting was attended by ADC Sopore Parvaiz Sajad Ganaie,SSP Sopore, Representatives of various trade bodies including Sopore Economic Alliance, Traders Federation Sopore, Transporters Association, and other concerned stakeholders.
On the occasion, a thorough discussion with regard to smooth celebration of Eid ul Fitr viz-a-viz COVID-19 Pandemic was held wherein DC stressed for following all the related health advisories pertaining to the pandemic so that public health is safeguarded. He directed the concerned agencies to ensure that the price of essential items is controlled.
DC said that a special mechanism has been formulated by the authorities wherein different aspects ranging from public health to Eid celebration shall be given due consideration. He stressed for making extra ordinary arrangements during present circumstances emerged due to COVID-19 outbreak so that public health is not compromised. He also appealed the people to cooperate with the administration at this critical juncture so that their lives are safeguarded adding that sufficient stock of essential commodities including rice, atta, LPG etc has been facilitated and there is nothing to worry about.
Earlier, the DC inspects several locations at Sopore to review the implementation of related SOPs and guidelines during which he directed the concerned agencies to ensure strict implementation of requisite COVID-19 advisories for mitigating eventualities.
