The cold-blooded and barbaric attack on innocent civilians at the Sunday market last week, which has now tragically claimed the life of Abida Lone, is an unspeakable act of terror. These criminals, who have no regard for human life, have targeted the most vulnerable—women and children—yet again in Kashmir. Abida’s death is a painful reminder of the growing violence that seeks to destroy the very fabric of our society.

It is heartbreaking to witness how women in Kashmir have become primary targets in these senseless acts of terror. These cowards think they can break our spirit, but they will never succeed. This vicious attack, which took a mother’s life and shattered a family, is a cruel and unforgivable assault on the people of Kashmir.

We cannot allow this madness to continue. Every day, the women of Kashmir live in fear—fear of being killed in cold blood for simply existing in their own homes, markets, and communities. This violence against women must be condemned in the strongest terms. The perpetrators of this horrific act must be held accountable, and we must ensure that justice is served.

As a representative of this region, I stand firm in my commitment to protect the lives and dignity of the people of Kashmir, especially our women, who are being silenced and slaughtered in the name of terrorism. Enough is enough. We will not let their blood go in vain.

We call on the authorities to act swiftly and decisively, to put an end to this cycle of terror that is consuming our people. The blood of our sisters, mothers, and daughters will not be spilled in vain. We will continue to fight for peace, justice, and the safety of every citizen, every woman in Kashmir.

Rest in peace, Abida Lone. You will not be forgotten. And we will continue to fight for the justice you deserve.
