Sopore, May 09: Continuing its unwavering drive against drug menace, Sopore Police has registered a case and arrested a major drug peddler who was operating under the guise of a pharmaceutical distributor. The accused, Manzoor Ahmad Watta, son of Ghulam Nabi Watta, resident of Adipora Sopore, was running a medical agency under the name N Traders Pharmaceutical Distributors in New Colony, Sopore.
Acting on credible information, a case FIR No. 67/2025 under sections 8/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Sopore. During the investigation, a raid was conducted at the agency premises in the presence of Executive Magistrate First Class Sopore and Drug Inspector Sopore. A total of 115 bottles of banned drug Codeine Phosphate—with fake labels marked as ‘CUT COLD D’—were recovered. The accused had been printing and pasting counterfeit labels on the original bottles after destroying their packaging, and selling these banned substances to local youth.
The laptop, printer, and fake labels used in the criminal activity have also been seized.
Sopore Police assures strict and swift action against all such drug peddlers operating under any cover. We are closely monitoring all pharmaceutical outlets and distributors, and anyone found involved in the illegal sale of banned drugs will face the full force of law.
We also warn all medical stores and agencies: do not indulge in the sale of banned substances. The law is watching, and Sopore Police is committed to protecting the youth from the clutches of drugs.
