Resolution in JK Assembly.
The proposed resolution in the JK Assembly by the National Conference has generated valuable discussions among Kashmiris, with diverse perspectives highlighting the need for clarity on Articles 370 and 35A, underscoring the resolution’s potential as a constructive starting point, and emphasizing the importance of considering varied viewpoints, particularly in light of Congress’s stance and its potential implications.
Given that Congress’s stance on Article 370 is well-known to those familiar with politics, if they were to support its resolution, they would likely face significant electoral consequences; therefore, it’s likely that the resolution has been carefully crafted with Congress’s position in mind.
Ultimately, I concluded that today’s resolution draft is cautiously worded, avoiding direct references to Articles 370 and 35, which suggests even the BJP may not strongly object, as the resolution advocates for special status and dialogue, leaving room for interpretation. Given Kashmir’s history of political compromises, perhaps this can be viewed as another necessary concession, considering Kashmiri politicians often prioritize surrender over struggle.
