One of the allegedly beaten up waiter, currently attending his colleague at SMHS Srinagar, on condition of anonymity, told Srinagar-based news agency Global News Service that the incident occurred this evening while they were taking meals at the restaurant – Yasir Restaurant Pattan. “We had just summed up the things and were taking dinner when a police team ‘barged inside’ the dining hall”, he said adding that “Without asking for anything or letting us to ask for something they went ‘berserk, thrashing all of us present inside’.”

Identifying one of his fellows’ as Manzoor Ahmad son of Mohammad Sideeq of Boniyar Baramulla, the server said that “He (Manzoor) was severely thrashed and kicked in his lower abdomen, leaving him crying in utter pain.”

“On seeing his condition, we left the things then and there and removed him to SMHS Srinagar”, he said adding that they have been asked to get the ECG and X-ray on a preferential basis after complications sensed by the doctors here.

“They even didn’t spare the owner of the restaurant, kicking and abusing him”, he alleged.

The waiter meanwhile maintained that there was ‘no apparent reason’ for them to understand as what led to the ‘thrashing’.

Meanwhile Station House Officer Pattan expressed his ignorance about the incident. “I have no information about it, when and what has happened” he said.
