A delegation of National Medicos Organisation J&K(NMO J&K) led by its President Dr Sameer Masoodi along with Secretary Dr Naseer Ahad & executive member Dr Bisma Khan met Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha.
President NMO J&K Dr Sameer Masoodi said, that the population of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory is almost 1.35 Crore and less than 590 Dental Surgeons are serving such a huge junk of population. In Union Territory of J&K, there are more than 370 new type PHCs without dental surgeon posts and where Medical Officers were appointed via Govt. Order no. 585-HME of 2014 dated 17-10-2014.And it will be for the betterment of patient care if Dental Surgeons are also posted at the said places.
Dr. Masoodi said, the average monthly OPD of District Hospitals & Sub District Hospitals has become challenging with the limited human resources and it’s not humanely possible for Dental Surgeons (in District & Sub district hospitals) to manage both OPD, surgical & conservative procedures there by leading in devaluing of ideal oral health care services. The procedures are time consuming and there is dire need of better logistics, infrastructure & human resource.
Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha was also requisitioned for inclusion of dentistry in ‘ayushman bharat sehat scheme’ so that every person of J&K can avail the dental treatment which may ease the burden of costly dental treatment especially for poor patients as well as will eradicate the Quackery(treatment by untrained & unethical persons).
In view of these grave facts & ground reality, Dr. Masoodi said it was stressed that it is high time to holistically upgrade the oral healthcare services in terms of creation of new & filling of current vacancies of posts of Dental Surgeons as projected by the Directorate of Health Services Jammu & Kashmir to the Government.
Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha gave a patient hearing & assured the delegation for fruitful resolution of their genuine demands.
