Fire broke out on Wednesday morning in Ashtango forests of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district following which the forest guards and other officials of the department were rushed to the area.

An official said that the massive fire erupted in compartment no.06 of Ashtango beat in the wee hours of Wednesday morning and it within no time hit the vast area of the forests.

After receiving the information, a team of officials and forest guards were sent to the spot and they are trying to control the fire from spreading ,he added

Range officer Khuihama range Mohd Maqbool lone said that the forest men are on job to douse the flames and prevent it from spreading further. “Hopefully it will be controlled very soon,” he said.
