Srinagar, February 4, 2025: Statement by Sheikh Mohammed Imran, Former Deputy Mayor of Srinagar

The abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 was not merely a political maneuver—it was an outright imposition, a blatant case of “Zinah Bil Jabbar” against Kashmir’s identity and autonomy. This forceful act dismantled our special status, trampling over the aspirations of millions.

The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), once the self-proclaimed champions of resistance, have now shed their façade. From loud wailing and theatrical protests, they have moved to singing wedding songs, attempting to disguise this violation as a Nikah to lend it an air of respectability. In reality, they are engaged in a desperate attempt to sanctify an injustice they once vowed to resist—all in a bid to secure power, privileges, and their coveted seats of authority.

The so-called Union Territory that emerged from this betrayal remains as illegitimate to Kashmiris as a fraudulent heir to the throne—a “Zinhuk” in every sense. Yet, instead of standing firm with the people, JKNC has chosen to switch sides for political convenience.

The hypocrisy of JKNC is sickening. One day, they cry “Zalim—Zalim!” and the next, they sing and dance to “Aap aaye—bahar aayi,” pretending that all is well under a sky darkened by oppression. If treachery and betrayal had a championship, JKNC would reign undefeated.

It is time to expose them for what they truly are—the undisputed grandmasters of betrayal, deception, lies, fakery, and political fraud. The people of Jammu and Kashmir will not be fooled. Their struggle, their pain, and their sacrifices will not be reduced to mere bargaining chips for those who only seek personal gain.
