A successful raid was carried out by the District Mineral Office Reasi, under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, in the Tehsil Chassana area at approximately 02:30 AM.
During the operation, five vehicles transporting minor minerals illegally were seized. The details of the seized vehicles are as follows:
JK20A 9284 – Driven by Manmeet Kumar
JK20B 7784 – Driven by Gulshan Kumar
JK20A 7799 – Driven by Krishen Singh
JK20C 6306 – Driven by Mohd Farooq
JK20C 7744 – Driven by Shabir Ahmed
All the seized vehicles have been handed over to Police Station Chassana for further legal action.
During the raid, the operator of one hydraulic excavator, a Volvo 210D, belonging to M/s Thakur Stone Crusher (Sungri), and one JCB 145 hydraulic excavator, belonging to Imtiaz Ahmed (S/O Abdul Rashid, R/O Bagga Mahore), believed to be the kingpin of illegal mining activities in the region, managed to flee the scene. However, both excavators were abandoned at the site.
The authorities are continuing their investigation and efforts to curb illegal mining activities in the region.
