The International Human Rights Organization – Jammu & Kashmir Chapter (IHRO J&K) proudly commemorates International Women’s Day 2026 on the historic land of Kashmir, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment, gender equality, social justice, and human dignity.
As part of this significant occasion, IHRO J&K Chapter will honour 100 exceptional women from across the Kashmir Division with the prestigious Hosla Afzai (Encouragement) Awards. These awards recognize women who have demonstrated extraordinary resilience, leadership, and dedication in their respective fields, inspiring positive change and contributing to a more inclusive and equitable society.
Among the distinguished awardees is Dr. Jagmeet Kour Bali, an eminent educationist, social worker, and prominent trade union leader, whose work exemplifies the true spirit of empowerment and service that IHRO seeks to celebrate.
✨ Spotlight on Dr. Jagmeet Kour Bali ✨
Dr. Jagmeet Kour Bali is a respected Sikh community leader and trade union activist from Jammu & Kashmir. She currently serves as:
Chairperson, All Sikh Minority Employees Association (ASMEA)
Chairperson, All Employees Joint Association Kashmir (AEJAK)
President, Jammu Kashmir Solace Working Women Association
Her journey of service began as a journalist, where she actively raised her voice for marginalized and minority communities. She went on to co-found The Kashmir Impact, a platform dedicated to highlighting positive and constructive narratives from the region.
Dr. Bali has founded and led several organizations advocating for minority employees’ rights, particularly within the Sikh community. Her grassroots activism spans critical social issues including women’s rights, domestic violence awareness, drug abuse prevention, cleanliness drives, and blood donation campaigns.
Her contributions have been widely recognized. She is a recipient of the Seva Puraskar Award by the Gandhi Global Family and was conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Public Relations by Frankford International University, USA (2025). Dr. Bali also actively engages with senior government officials and policymakers to raise issues related to justice, security, and equality for minority and employee communities.
Dr. Jagmeet Kour Bali’s unwavering dedication, courage, and leadership embody the essence of the Hosla Afzai Award, making her a deserving honouree on this global day celebrating women’s achievements.
