Srinagar, Jul 7 According to local news agency (GNS): Amid frequent drowning incidents recorded in recent days in the district administration in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal has ordered a complete ban on bathing and swimming in nallah Sindh and its tributaries.
In an official handout, of which a copy lies with GNS, District Magistrate Ganderbal who also happens to be the Chairman DDMA, has maintained that “In view of frequent loss of precious lives due to drowning incidents while bathing/swimming in Nallah Sindh and as a part of precautionary measure, a complete ban is hereby imposed on swimming/bathing in Nallah Sindh and its tributaries in Ganderbal forthwith (sic.)”.
Impressing all the relevant law enforcement agencies to enforce the directions in letter and spirit, the order reads that “The Tehsildars (Executive Magistrates), SHOs and Jal Shakti shall keep strict vigil in their respective areas of jurisdictions for implementation of the order in letter and spirit.”
Pertinent to mention here that in a latest incident a duo had on Sunday last drowned in the water body near Kijpora Kangan of the district.
