Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Mr. Anshul Garg today inaugurated Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme 2021 at Maternity & Childcare Hospital Anantnag. The DC started the campaign by administering oral anti polio vaccine drops to the newly born infants in presence of CMO and Superintendent M & CCH Anantnag.

CMO Anantnag, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad on the occasion informed the DC that 146152 children in the age group of 0-5 years will be administered pulse polio drops in the district.He added that 650 pulse polio booths have been setup in the district, besides, 14 transit booths have also been established for the effective and successful implementation of the programme.

The DC was further informed that Health Department Anantnag has deployed 2730 total workers which include 662 Anganwari workers, 53 education workers, 872 ASHA’S and 898 health workers, besides 130 supervisors have also been deployed for proper monitoring of the campaign.

The DC directed the officers of the health department to ensure cent percent coverage of the immunization programme and also asked for door to door survey to leave no child uncovered under the pulse polio programme 2021.

It is pertinent mention that this is the first phase of antipolio Vaccination Programme for the year 2021 & the aim of the programme is to ensure the children upto 5 yrs of age are protected from the crippling Polio Myelitis disease.

On the occasion, MS MCCH Anantnag, Dr Andrabi informed the DC about the working of the hospital, number of deliveries done daily, referral cases recieved from Lower hospitals and cases referred to LD , etc. He also raised some issues and demands about the functioning of the hospital, its takeover by GMC etc. Mr Garg assured the health officers that all genuine demands will be projected before the higher authorities in a time bound manner.

Similar functions were also held in all medical block headquarters where concerned SDMs/Tehsildars presided over the inaugural events in presence of the respective BMOs.
