Baramulla, July 03: Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today convened a meeting of concerned officers to discuss the arrangements being put in place for celebrating ‘Kissan Pakhwada’ scheduled to be organised from July 7 to July 21.

SDM Pattan ,SDM Gulmarag,Cheif Agriculture officer, Chief Horticulture Officer,ACD, BDC chairpersons ,Lead Bank Manager, district and sectoral officers of various departments, among others were present in the meeting.

On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on the subject was held during which it was informed that the objective of ‘Kissan Pakhwada’ is to increase the flow of advances in agriculture sector and double the income of farmers by way of their involvement in agricultural related welfare schemes like KCC, PM-KISSAN and other welfare schemes. It was also informed that during the period special registration camps shall be organized at different levels wherein different services pertaining to farming community which includes enrollment of left over farmers under PM-kissan, KCC, correction of land revenue records among other matters, shall be delivered.

Speaking on the occasion, DC stressed upon all stakeholders to play a proactive role for making the fortnight Kissan Pakhwada a successful mission in the district and ensure that cent percent coverage of farmers under the purview of centrally sponsored PM Kissan and KCC schemes. He also deliberated for disseminating awareness with regard to the programme among the people at different levels. DC also emphasized upon the heads of various banks to complete the process of KCC loans so that the farmers may not face any inconvenience due to lack of financial capital.

Meanwhile, the meeting was informed, that as many as 82365 farmers have been registered under P M Kissan against the target of 107329 beneficiaries in the district. It was also given out that the district also leads in the entire J&K in the coverage of farmers under KCC scheme.
