Srinagar, Aug 25 According to News agency (KNO): A massive rescue operation was launched on Tuesday afternoon after a boy drowned in Power Canal in Hariganiwan area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

A senior police officer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a boy, 14, drowned in the power canal when he was taking a bath.

He said soon after the incident, a rescue operation was launched by locals, SDRF and police. The officer identified the boy as Asif Ahmad Kassana, son of Muhammad Lateef Kassana of Hariganiwan.

The rescue operation was going on when the report was last filed.
