Budgam, May 12 : A tragic road accident near Jamkash in Sheikhpora area of Budgam district claimed the life of an auto-rickshaw driver on Monday evening after a speeding tipper collided with his vehicle, causing it to catch fire.
An official told news agency that the auto driver, identified as Showkat Ahmad Hajam, son of Mohammad Maqbool Hajam, a resident of Ompora Budgam, died on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said the tipper driver fled from the location immediately after the incident. Police have launched a hunt to trace the absconding driver, and further investigation into the case is underway.
