Weapons were meant to activate militant related actions in Kashmir, say officials

Poonch, Nov 09: Security forces Monday recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition during a search operation near LoC in Poonch district of the Union Territory.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that based on a specific input, J&K police in a joint search operation and army in general area of Kirni area of Poonch near LoC during the intervening night of November 8/9.

“During search operation a bag full of arms and ammunition hidden under boulders was found near LoC,” he said, adding the details recovery of arms and ammunition is as under AK 56 – 04,  AK magazines- 04, AK rounds – 141,  AGL grenades – 02, Hand grenade – 02, Islamic Diaries – 20, Camel bag – 1, AK accessories and ruck sack- 1.

“Initial investigation reveals that this consignment of arms and ammunition was to be smuggled to Kashmir valley to activate more militant related actions by Lashkar-e-Tobia militants. An FIR has been registered in police station Poonch and further details if any will be shared during investigation of the case,” the officials said—(KNO)
