A political exchange on social media has sparked fresh debate in Jammu and Kashmir after Sheikh Imran strongly criticized recent remarks linked to Mehbooba Mufti.
Sheikh Imran, who has served as the former Deputy Mayor of Srinagar and currently holds the position of Secretary Organisation in the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC), accused certain political leaders of “hypocrisy.” He urged them to explicitly name the United States and Israel while referring to global conflicts, particularly in the context of tensions involving Iran.
He also cited a resolution of the Punjab Assembly, claiming it had clearly condemned actions by both the US and Israel.
In his post, Sheikh Imran alleged that some leaders were engaging in “theatrics” and promoting narratives that could alienate Kashmiris. He further accused political rivals, including the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), of portraying Kashmiris negatively and acting against their interests.
The remarks come amid heightened political discourse in the region, with leaders increasingly using social media platforms to express divergent views on both local and international issues.
There has been no immediate official response from Mehbooba Mufti or JKNC regarding the statements.
