Kupwara, Oct 08(GNS): Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Department Kupwara has lodged FIRs against mutton and poultry dealer for overcharging.
“On the basis of complaint the Assistant Director FCS&CA Kupwara organized a successful trap against a mutton and poultry dealer in village Pohrupeth Chogal and lodged FIRs against them who were found involved in overcharging and illegal trade practices,” an official of the department told GNS.
He said that an enforcement team organized a trap so that the erring trader should be booked under the Essential Commodities Act.
“We are organizing such trap in future also so that stern actions are taken against such dealers who are looting poor people despite several warnings and fine,” said the Assistant Director FCS&CA. People are requested to come forward if anybody is overcharging or doesn’t have a rate list or is selling expired products, he said. “As now the department has decided to lodge FIRs against those shopkeepers who are indulged in illegal trade practices and nobody shall be spared now as some shopkeepers have become habitual and deserve stern punishment under law.” (GNS)
