Dozens of class 11 students Saturday afternoon held a peaceful protest in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district demanding mass promotion citing low speed internet as a major reason.

The protesting students told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School education (JKBOSE) must consider their mass promotion demand at an earliest or else it will have a huge impact over on their academics in times to come and there is no alternative to it.

The protesting students marched from the bypass road to the Deputy Commissioner’s complex and raised slogans that include ‘There is only one solution: Mass Promotion Mass promotion’, we want justice and we demand mass promotion.”

“We haven’t been to schools for almost a year now and are now asked to appear in the annual exams without having proper preparation for the same,” said a student.

They said that JKBOSE is playing with the career of so many students by forcing them to appear in examinations without attending a single lecture for so many months now despite knowing every individual has immensely suffered both mentally and morally during the ongoing pandemic.

“There is no proper internet and many of the students failed to attend the online classes due to unavailability of high speed internet,” they said.
