The sumo drivers Saturday staged a protest near Gagangeer in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, demanding authorities to allow them to Zero point and other tourist places.
Scores of sumo drivers from Ganderbal to zero point blocked the road and alleged that the district administration is depriving them to earn their livelihood.
“We have a season for only three months but the authorities are creating hurdles in our way to earn the livelihood, “the protesting sumo drivers said, adding that the only thing they are being asked is to make a rate list.
Moreover, the commuters travelling through the road had to face tremendous hardships, appealing administration to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali told KNS that the sumo drivers have blocked the road, who are seeking permission for heading towards Zero point.
He said they will be allowed to ply tomorrow after fixing the rate list. (KNS)
