Stating that the future of the Youth of the state was safe and secure in the hands of Omar Abdullah, National Conference leader Farooq Ahmad Shah Sunday said that Omar was the hope of the young generation of the state in the time of hopelessness and despair. Addressing public gatherings at the culmination of two cricket tournaments in Tangmarg area, the former IAS officer hoped that youth would come forward and play the much needed role in taking the society forward. Mr. Shah said that the young generation was the backbone of the society therefore they must come forward and participate actively in the nation building. He said the Young National Conference leader Omar Abdullah was committed to bring prosperity in the state and work for the betterment of the youth. He urged Youth to strengthen the hands of Omar and said their future was safe and secure in the hands of former Chief Minster.
Meanwhile Shah gave away prizes to the winner and runner up teams on the final ceremony of the Rawatpora Premier league and Gulmarg Premier league. Sixteen teams participated in the RPL which was won by Hayatpora defeating Aathipora whereas the GPL was won by Lalpora defeating Chukar eleven. Thirty two teams participated in the nearly one month long GPL. In the meantime many political workers affiliated with PDP and DPN joined National Conference on the occasion at Rawatpora. He was accompanied by various party functionaries including Block Presidents Haji Abdul Razak, M. Sultan Wani , Youth leaders Mushaq Habeeb Dar, Sheikh Nadeem, Hilal Cheechi and others.
