Calls for black band protest on 14th June
Condemning thrashing of an Intern doctor in NRS medical college Hospital,West Bengal in strongest possible words, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) said that this act of hooliganism against any doctor while discharging their duties is unacceptable.
Expressing outrage over physical assault on doctors, President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik in a statement said that,”this unruly behaviour on doctors while discharging their professional duties have now become order of the day and has now spread pan India”.
“Doctors put in their blood and sweat to treat and save patients and instead of appreciation they get thrashing. Doctors cannot deliver their services efficiently because of insecurity which adversely affects patient care,” Dr Naik said.
Dr Owais H Dar, General Secretary DAK, said that “Time and again Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) has been demanding an ordinance against violence on doctors but it seems Govt. is least bothered about our security. Doctor whether in Kashmir or in West Bengal is our brother by profession and to show solidarity with our doctor brethren of West Bengal we call for a “black band” protest on 14th june across the state.
Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) requests all doctors of the state to show full solidarity with West Bengal doctors and wear black bands on14th June as a means of protest and demand for ordinance for treating assault on medical fraternity or damage to hospital property as non-bailable offence.
