Assistant director CAPD Kupwara conducts market checks in Handwara

On the instructions of CAPD director Kashmir a market checking squad headed by A.D Food Kupwara Mudasir Ahmad today conducted checking in Handwara market in north kashmir.

During the inspection, the squad inspected markets including sabzi mandi Hardwara and destroyed rotten vegetables, fruits and other adulterated food items and challaned five shopkeepers for violation of Food Safety and Standards Act, besides clearing footpaths from encroachments.

The penalized shopkeepers were directed to display the government approved rate list of all essential commodities. The AD asked people and shopkeepers to cooperate with the department so as to put an end to the menace of profiteering, hoarding and food adulteration.

Assistant Director Enforcement Wing CA&PD, and officers from MCH and handwara police were part of the market checking team.

Speaking on the occasion, the NT Handwara Saleem Shams said that such a drive have been conducted in order to ensure the quality and price control besides keeping vigil on erring traders.

He said that such drives will be conducted on routine basis so that quality of commodities is ensured. Meanwhile, he urged traders not to violate the rules and directed for displaying the rate lists at their respective trade centres.

Moreover, the AD also warned the vendors not to encroach the footpaths failing which shall render action against the violators.

Meanwhile inspector food civil supplies Kupwara , NT handwara and handwara police were also  the part market checking.
